Nitrofreeze® Proof of Concept Case Study- Deburring Polysulfone (PSU)

Our Cryogenic Deflashing and Deburring process adds value while reducing costs to customers by eliminating the need for hand trimming. Highlighted below is an actual customer part that has successfully undergone the Nitrofreeze® process.

PSU Deburring- Sample 3

Material : Polysulfone (PSU)
Description : Medical injection pen assembly
Area for Concern : Exterior lettering (not shown) as well as internal locking mechanism shown in above photo as the slot. Additionally other external burrs from the machining operation.
Results : The parts geometry posed potential issues for our process.  After some trial and error, it was deemed a fit for our Cryogenic Deburring process. Multiple samples done with varying media size helped eradicate burrs while maintaining the integrity of the slot opening for proper assembly. The process proved a cost-effective deburring solution for the customer.
